What Does it Mean to be a Masseuse?

When it comes to massage therapy, many women don't like the term 'masseuse'. This is because the term has a connotation of being flirtatious and athletic. However, the literal definition of a masseuse is a female massager. So, if you're lucky enough to have a massage therapist like this on your next spa visit, don't call her a massage therapist.

The same goes for handsome male massage therapists - don't call them masseuses either. In the past, the term 'masseuse' was acceptable when referring to the woman with golden hands who removes knots from your sore back. However, today it's best to refer to them as massage therapists.
